Community Gardens
Community gardens are plots of land, typically owned by local governments or non-profit organizations, available to people desiring to grow food for themselves, their families, and their community. People are drawn to community gardens for many reasons; some due to a lack of personal garden space or fertile soil at their place of residence, others in order to foster a sense of neighborhood/community interdependence and cooperation.

The produce is distributed to the community through a bi-weekly stand at the clinic, subscription to the Kay-Woi Basket membership program, and vouchers allocated to Diabetes Program and WIC clients.

Almost all of the JCS classes have worked in the garden, with a long-term goal of creating a CSA to help to fund the garden while providing students both garden instruction as well as hands-on business experience.
